BJR Prepares for Double Toyota Supra Shakedown
The Albury-based squad, BJR, is gearing up for an exciting development in their racing program. With the arrival of two Toyota Supra race cars, the team is set to showcase its prowess in the upcoming pre-season test in Sydney. The #8 Andre Heimgartner and #14 Cam Hill Supras will take to the track, marking a significant milestone for the team.
Heimgartner's car will be adorned in the R&J Batteries colors, which will be unveiled during the test. Meanwhile, Hill's Supra will make its debut in a sleek all-black design. This marks an important moment for both drivers, as Heimgartner previously tested Walkinshaw TWG Racing's test mule at Winton, while Hill is set to experience the Supra for the first time.
Team owner Jones expressed his enthusiasm, stating, 'Running the cars is going to be a very proud moment. It's a significant step in our relationship with the new manufacturer. I'm looking forward to being there for it.'
The shakedown will take place during the afternoon, following a recent development in the team's operations. BJR recently received two Toyota V8 engines, which were couriered down from Supercars' engine shop in Brisbane. The engines arrived on Wednesday and Friday, marking a crucial step in the team's preparation.
It's worth noting that BJR's third car, driven by Macauley Jones, is a converted Chevrolet Camaro and is exempt from the shakedown under Supercars rules. Meanwhile, Walkinshaw's first Supra has already been on track, completing 5000km of engine test mileage across various circuits. This car is set to be raced by Ryan Wood, while Chaz Mostert's new machine underwent a parity test at Queensland Raceway on Monday.
