His performance at Triple-A Lehigh Valley last year was solid, showcasing an impressive fastball and a strong strikeout rate. However, he did struggle with home runs, which is an area the Phillies will be looking to improve.
If Painter doesn't perform well during Spring Training, the Phillies have limited alternatives. Their other starters on the 40-man roster have little to no MLB experience, and non-roster invitees don't inspire much confidence.
